This recruitment and testing is to fill the vacant position of Fire Lieutenant. Salary Range: $36,969-$55,453 (Based on 2912 hours / year)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent GED Certificate and one (1) year of experience as a Fire Fighter and an Emergency Medical Technician or equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • State of Arizona class D driver’s license.
  • State of Arizona certification as Firefighter I and II.
  • Fire Fighter Instructor I Certification.
  • Fire Fighter Instructor / Evaluator Certification.
  • Fire Inspector I Certification within one (1) year or Fire Inspector II Certification.
  • Preference may be given to individuals with three (3) or more years of continuous service with the Bisbee Fire Department.


Applicants will be given the IPMA #702 Fire Supervisor Test on October 6, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. in the City of Bisbee Council Chambers located at 118 Arizona Street. The #702 is supported by a content validity study which includes:

  • Fire Behavior and Fire Science
  • Firefighting Tactics and Procedures
  • Rescue and Safety
  • Firefighting Equipment and Apparatus
  • Building Construction
  • Supervisory Practices
  • Fire Prevention and Fire Safety
  • Hazardous Materials


Applicants will also be required to complete a written and oral exercise.





Duties: Under general supervision, identifies, develops, coordinates, schedules, promotes, and introduces a wide variety of programs and special events of interest to the community, including book, film, and speaker series for adults and children. In addition, participates in Circulation Desk rotation, as needed, to check materials in and out, provide basic reference assistance, and assist patrons with public computers.

Skills: A high degree of knowledge of program and special event planning, promoting, and implementation is required; previous event planning experience is preferred. Computer skills and the ability to work flexibly as a team member, with the public, and with program presenters is required; graphic design and/or marketing skills are preferred.

Qualifications: A high school diploma or GED and at least one (1) year of experience in a customer service or event planning position are required; a college degree and prior library experience either as an employee or volunteer are preferred.

Salary Range: $10.17-$15.26/ hour. Anticipated hiring range $10.80/ hour (DOE) for an anticipated 19.5 hours weekly.
