FIREFIGHTER/EMT

FIREFIGHTER/PARAMEDIC

 

Duties: Under general supervision, responds to fire and emergency medical calls for service to protect the life and property of City residents; provides basic life support functions and transports patients to appropriate medical facilities; responds to non-emergency calls for public assistance.

 

Education, Experience, and Certifications: High School diploma or GED. Must possess a current Arizona EMT or Paramedic certification and valid Arizona Driver's license/ Firefighter I and II preferred but not required.

Requirements: Must pass a strenuous physical agility test, written exam, oral board, physical examination and drug/alcohol screening. Within six months of employment, must live within 15 minutes of the Bisbee city limits.

Annual Salary: Starting EMT salary of $31,883 (DOE), Paramedic starting salary of $34,798 (DOE) plus a comprehensive benefits package.

FIRE CAPTAIN

POSTING DATE: DECEMBER 10, 2014

CLOSING DATE: DECEMBER 24, 2014

TESTING DATE: DECEMBER 29, 2014

This testing is to fill the vacant position of Fire Captain. Any Individual who meets the minimum qualifications and is interested in this position must submit a completed application and a letter of interest to the Personnel Department by December 24, 2014 at 5:00pm.

Summary: Under limited supervision, plans, organizes and manages the operations and staff of a shift of firefighters; serves as responsible command officer at a fire scene; directs the readiness for and response to fire and emergency medical calls, performs a variety of administrative and managerial duties in support of the department.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.
  • Three years of experience as a Fire Fighter and an EMT or equivalent.
  • State of Arizona certification of EMT-B or higher.
  • State of Arizona certification as Firefighter I and II.
  • State of Arizona class D driver’s license.

 Salary Range:  $40,807 to $61,210 – Based on 2912 hours / year

 

Applicants will be given the IPMA Company Officer test on December 29, 2014. This test is supported by a content validity study which includes:

  • Basic Firefighting techniques
  • Tactics and Strategies
  • Safety
  • Building Construction
  • Fire Investigation
  • Hazardous Materials
  • Fire Department’s Role in the Community
  • Concepts of Supervision
  • Report Writing

 Applicants will be required to complete a written test and an oral board.
